Happy Birthday, A Long Tough Blog

Four years ago today this insipid silliness began. Woe be to the internets that it limps on still.

If you wish to help A Long Tough Blog celebrate this day of great lament, you can hop on over to any of the many music sites listed under "Songs for sale - cheap!" at the top right of the page (or just go to CDBaby by hitting the baby below) and purchase a song or three from my CD, Bottomfeeders. I suggest the song "Sigh," simply because it has the most musicians on it who aren't me.

Happy New Year everyone, and may 2011 indicate a much better decade than the last.

Tastical Illusions

I just saw this very cool video over at Boing Boing, and it got me wondering: Would it be possible to create something similar, except with something that tricks the sense of taste, rather than vision? That'd be cool. I'm going to have to look into that.

Deep Thought: Reconciliation

When Republicans used the reconciliation process in both 2001 and 2003 to pass massive tax cuts, primarily for the most wealthy in the country, it was Holy reconciliation. If it's used to pass health care reform, which would overwhelmingly help the poorest in the country, it will be like killing Jesus again.

Extra.

Extra.

Extra.

Extra. (This one is a really good explanation and history of reconciliation.)

Epitaph

Like most people, I assume, I haven't given a lot of thought to what my own epitaph might be - you can't put an epitaph on a plastic bag of ashes anyway, can you? - but this one appeared to me as if in a dream, and I don't think my working brain could do a whole lot better:

Air Stagnation Advisory

The voice on my teevee just told me that the region wherein I reside is under an Air Stagnation Advisory:

Air stagnation is a phenomenon which occurs when an air mass remains over an area for an extended period of time. Due to light winds and lack of precipitation, pollutants cannot be cleared from the air, either gaseous (like ozone) or particulate (like soot or dust). In the United States, the National Weather Service issues an Air Stagnation Advisory when these conditions are likely to occur.

Yep, sounds like the Rogue Valley wintertime.
