Robert Novak Writes About His Brain Cancer

As I've written before, I lost one of my sisters, a truly graceful and beautiful human being, to brain cancer five years ago. I can't of course help but remember the 18 months of her illness, the unimaginable pain experienced by her family and our family and her many, many friends, as well as the many perfectly blissful moments during that time, when I think of Novak.

He writes about his ordeal here, very honestly.

I wish him the very best in care and love and inner strength during this time.

Robert Novak: Malignant and "Dire" Brain Cancer [Updtd]

Damn. Having lost my sister to that disease, I sincerely wish him the very best care and friendship and future.

Update: Novak writes about the accident, and the tumor. I believe he did not know he hit the man. And I wish him the very best care, and strength throughout his illness.

Columnist Robert Novak Hits-and-Runs Pedestrian [Updtd 2]

Novakula, in his black Corvette convertible, nailed a pedestrian and tried to flee (also on CNN):

As he traveled east on K. Street, crossing 18th, Bono said a "black Corvette convertible with top closed plowed into the guy. The guy is sort of splayed onto the windshield.”

Bono said the pedestrian, who was crossing the street on a "Walk" signal and was in the crosswalk, rolled off the windshield and then Novak made a right into the service lane of K Street. “The car is speeding away. What’s going through my mind is, you just can’t hit a pedestrian and drive away,” Bono said.

He chased Novak half a block down K St., finally caught up with him and then put his bike in front of the car to block him and called 911. Traffic immediately backed up, horns blared, and commuters finally went into reverse to allow Novak to pull over.

Bono said that throughout, Novak "keeps trying to get away. He keeps trying to go.” He said he vaguely recognized the longtime political reporter and columnist as a Washington celebrity but could not precisely place him.

Finally, Novak put his head out the window of his car and motioned him over. Bono said he told him that you can't hit a pedestrian and just drive away. He said Novak responded: “I didn’t see him there.”

He didn't see the guy who was "splayed onto the windshield." Ha! How much you wanna bet the guy looks like Joe Wilson.

Update: The victim may not be so slightly injured afterall.

Update 2: Oh geez, the guy was 86 years old, not 66.
