The Court deserved the smackdown it got from the President of the United States last night, and Justice Sam Alito's rude protest--this year's Joe Wilson outburst--was just further proof of what a bunch of political hacks the justices have become.

Supreme Court: Elections Not Corrupt Enough; Need More Money

Justice Stevens sums it up perfectly in his dissent against today's Supreme Court decision:

"While American democracy is imperfect, few outside the majority of this Court would have thought its flaws included a dearth of corporate money in politics."

P.S. Republicans love this decision. And Democrats hate it. Just to note. (John McCain may be one of the very few exceptions.)

Dear Supreme Court: The American People Think You're a Joke

And believe it or not, that matters.

You can't sue us unless we tell you that we were breaking the law, and we can't tell you that.

Why respect any law at all anymore? Why not just rob and murder and mayhem for all?

Real conservatives ARE Liberal

At least in some imporant ways.

[Justice John Paul] Stevens, however, is an improbable liberal icon. “I don’t think of myself as a liberal at all,” he told me during a recent interview in his chambers, laughing and shaking his head. “I think as part of my general politics, I’m pretty darn conservative.” Stevens said that his views haven’t changed since 1975, when as a moderate Republican he was appointed by President Gerald Ford to the Supreme Court. Stevens’s judicial hero is Potter Stewart, the Republican centrist, whom Stevens has said he admires more than all of the other justices with whom he has served. He considers himself a “judicial conservative,” he said, and only appears liberal today because he has been surrounded by increasingly conservative colleagues.
