Wearing an Obama shirt (or a McCain shirt, one would hope, at least) is considered "campaigning" in New Mexico, and that's illegal within 100 feet of a polling place. So this woman was told she couldn't vote.
A U.S. citizen, by wearing a T-shirt, is campaigning? What nonsense.

Back in the 80s, when the Oregon Citizens Alliance was busy terrorizing teh_gay, we had the same thing going on here in Oregon. I had a "No OCA" button on my jacket, and I had to take it off before going into a polling station.
Later that law was made defunct.
Of course, now, it's an academic point.
I didn't think it was right back when we did it, AFAIK.
Is the idea to avoid conflicts in polling stations? I guess there could be some sense in that.
