Guns in Church

Hey - now you can really have a shotgun wedding. Makes me feel so Jesus-y inside.

And: Anti-choice fanatics will find it so much easy to murder doctors, too. Yay, church.

U.S. Military Bases Must Carry the Morning-After Pill

Wingnut heads ASPLODE:

WASHINGTON – The Pentagon for the first time will require military bases worldwide to offer emergency contraception or the so-called morning-after pill, a military spokeswoman said Thursday.

Remember, what we're talking about here: this is contraception medication. It prevents conception. It prevents any spermy/eggy funny business. When the powers that be behind anti-abortion groups, which universally opposed making the morning after pill legal, say they just want to stop abortion, or they just want to stop late-term abortion, they are lying. It is only a first step. They want to make contraception medication illegal, too. What they want is power over women.

* "The powers that be behind" added.

Since Colonoscopies Are Legal...

...they ought to be performed right in the middle of the street. Then we'd see how disgusting they are. And we'd hear angels singing. And we'd ponder the glory of defecation.

Or something.

"Twin Survives Several Abortion Attempts!"

In Matt Drudge's world, the truth is like Playdo - something malleable, meant to be stretched and flattened and mashed and molded, and, most of all, something to be treated with the same respect you'd give a 99 cent toy.

The story that Drudge deemed worthy of that headline:

When doctors found that Gabriel was weaker than his brother, with an enlarged heart, and believed he was going to die in the womb, his mother Rebecca Jones had to make a heartbreaking decision.

Doctors told her his death could cause his twin brother to die too before they were born, and that it would be better to end Gabriel's suffering sooner rather than later.

So, doctors recommend to an expectant mother a course of action to save one of her babies, one that requires a deeply difficult and deeply personal choice. The course of action recommended, and agreed to by the mother: an abortion. And Drudge decides this would be a good anti-abortion story.

And the "several" abortion attempts:

Mrs Jones decided to let doctors operate to terminate Gabriel's life.

Firstly they tried to sever his umbilical cord to cut off his blood supply, but the cord was too strong.

They then cut Mrs Jones's placenta in half so that when Gabriel died, it would not affect his twin brother.

But after the operation which was meant to end his life, tiny Gabriel had other ideas.

Two. That's "several" in Matt Drudge's basement universe.

- Best of health and happiness to mom and two baby boys. It is a hell of a story.

Supreme Court: Some Pregnant Women Must Die

Someone's gotta explain to me how today's Supreme Court ruling prohibiting partial-birth abortion - even in cases when it's to save the mother's life - is not, at least in some cases, a Court-sanctioned death sentence for women guilty of being pregnant and suffering a catastrophic illness or injury in the meantime. It's beyond understanding.

Will a ban on any surgery while guilty of being pregnant be next? Because sometimes fetuses die during surgery on pregnant mothers. They do.
