Breaking: Global Warming Scientists Hiding Icebergs Off New Zealand
Damned lying scientists.
The second time since 1931. Woo hoo!
More on the email fiasco here.
Large numbers of icebergs last floated close to New Zealand in 2006, when some were visible from the coastline — the first such sighting since 1931.

German Robin Hood Gets Suspended Sentence
Never even heard about this story:
That's about $11 million US. I smell a movie.
The 62-year-old branch head of one German bank was hailed as a hero after she confessed to transferring money from rich customers to help her poorer clients. Already, she has been dubbed "Die Robin Hood Bankerin".
She was given a 22-month suspended sentence after moving more than €7.6m (£6.9m) in 117 transfers between 2003 and 2005. The court in Bonn was told that the employee, who has not been named, took no money for herself.

Hit the Baby
* New posts appear above and below this one. *
Hit the baby and you can get my CD, Bottomfeeders, or just a song or two, at the great Oregon internet store, CDBaby. You can even listen to some samples over there.
Or get it by the song straight to your digital device at iTunes.
Thanks. That is all.

I got a line on you, babe
Spirit, 1968.
Spirit trivia: Guitarist Randy California (who wrote this song) was born Randy Craig Wolfe in Los Angeles in 1951. His family moved to New York City in the mid-1960s, and when he was just fifteen Randy became a member of Jimmy James and the Blue Flames - Jimi Hendrix's band. The bass player's name was also Randy. He was from Texas, and Hendrix dubbed him "Randy Texas." Randy Wolfe became "Randy California" - and he kept the name for the rest of his life.

if I were a captured terrorist, I'd rather be treated like an awesome and terrifying terrorist than a simple thug.

Reverend Moon is one Crazy Sumbitch
How can any serious journalist ever work for this guy?
More very weird Moon looniness here.
"Father [Moon] said that he had originally trained Kwon Jin Nim to be the president of the United States. He said that Kwon Jin Nim might be appointed as a leader in the newspaper field.
The fifty states of America offered to create a statues of Rev. Moon but Father did not allow them to do so."

Vonnegut and Bogle Veteran's Day Post From Last Year
O'Reilly: "We Can't Kill *All* the Muslims"
This is someone held up by a significant portion of our population as a respectable and thoughtful commentator. And he thinks it's perfectly normal to make an offhand comment implying that Americans actually want to kill every Muslim alive.
Even the kids, Bill?
We want to - but we can't. That's why we, in O'Reilly's thinking, try to "win hearts and minds." Because we can't kill them all.
Jesus.

First Black Holes Created by Black Hole Machine
Just kidding. But the LHC has produced its first collisions - and the black holes will be produced any day now, I'm sure.

There Are Many Muslims in the US Military
Shephard Smith of Fox News thinks the Ft. Hood murderer's "name tells us a lot". Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison agrees.
What does the name Mohsin Naqvi tell us, Shephard? Senator? How about Ayman Taha? Or Rasheed Sahib, Omead Razani, and Abul Fateh Umar Khan?
What a truly horrible thing to say.
** Very good related article here.

Morning Music: Badfinger
The song that would not leave my head this morning:
And the most Beatle-esque thing about that Beatle-wanna-be band performing that very Beatle-like song, in my opinion: the use of the word "Sonny." Something just screams Beatles about that.
