Essence Carson, captain of the Rutgers basketball team that won the almost-national championship and was likened to "nappy headed ho's" by radio and MSNBC host Don Imus, said today that Imus "has stolen a moment of pure grace from us."
She's right, of course, that Imus took a crap on what should have been an innocent moment. He should get shat on more so in return.
But Don Imus also gave the Rutgers basketball team what is now an unimaginably huge stage to speak about something that anybody would agree was bigger that basketball. Basketball is big - this is bigger.
Screw Don Imus. I won't for a second presume to think what the team should say or think - say what you want about Imus. I'm just glad you have this large stage.
